Where we will be soon: ADDRESSING CLIMATE CHANGE IN A POST-PANDEMIC WORLDMany are saying that after the pandemic crisis is over the world will never function the same way again. Businesses, healthcare, economics on every level, even the way we humans live our lives will change drastically from the forms they took prior to January, 2020.
McKinsey, a company that guides big business and investors, addresses what we will need to do once the dust settles and the climate crisis will have to be moved immediately to the world's front burner. Read the MCKinsey article published in their April, 2020 report |

A new NPR report shows how a failing plastics industry created recycling so they could keep producing throw-away one use products.
NPR Article |
This Frontline report (March 31, 2020) is shocking. The problem with recycling had seemed to be simply that not enough people were acting on it. The report shows how the plastics industry wants us to think that the problem is us rather then themselves.
The same solutions of the '90's are still being promoted today. But the problem is more with the industry than ourselves.
What needs to happen within the plastics industry and what can we be doing about it?
If enough of us are distressed by this can we bundle together and become a force?
Can we make lemonade out of this lemon?

Locally, the River Raisin Institute founded in 2003 by the IHM Sisters is also a Monroe County member. Much of this work is being done by professionals. Vote Solar
VoteSolar.org is a not-for-profit working to promote the installation of solar panels for large and small users. The industry is expanding but the power companies are blocking the way. See the excerpt below of an appeal letter sent to supporters the week of August 8:
"Your state legislators work for you, not the shareholders of Michigan’s monopoly electric utilities.
So imagine our surprise when the utilities intervened in the legislative process to stop a commonsense bill that would protect the right of Michigan families to choose solar and receive fair compensation for the energy they produce. The bill, SB 597 (McBroom)/HB 5145 (Markkanen), would eliminate the artificial “cap” that currently restricts the number of residents, small businesses, schools, and churches that can go solar."
